"ABC's of Miss Stoor's Teaching Philosophy"
A: Always Learning
Throughout each day, there will be many lessons taught to the students. Sometimes I will directly instruct, and other times the students will teach and learn from each other. I hope to always seize every available opportunity to teach the students.
B: Boldly Progressing
The material may be hard. There may be limited time. But I hope to teach my students that the process of learning never ends, and we must move forward confident in our abilities. I will model and promote positive citizenship so that students can find not only academic success, but success in their lives as well.
C: Central Focus on Student
Though my teaching has a great impact, my focus will not be on my teaching but on the student and their learning style. I will adapt my teaching to fulfill the learning needs of every student in my classroom. I hope to help the students learn of their resources to create a secure environment that fosters learning, growth, respect and mutual success.
As a teacher, I receive the chance to have a positive influence in the lives of others. I feel that teaching the rising generation the information they need to be successful, is the greatest service I can give to others greatest and contribution I can make to our country. No amount of money is worth more to me than seeing a student learn and progress, and being a part of that process is so exciting! Not only do I get to be a teacher, but I also get to experience the 'trying-on and trading of different hats'. I am a counselor and psychologist when a child needs help with a problem. I am a custodian when I clean up certain little messes. I am a doctor that detects when a child gets sick. I am a preacher when we seem to stray from our values. But I am proud to wear all of these different hats, because I am proud to say "I am a teacher".
